The Drift is located in a quiet rural area with walks and bike rides right from the door. The nearby village of Gairloch on the famous NC500 Route, Gairloch offers a selection of shops, restaurants, cafes, takeaways and hotels. It has its own museum, Sandy beach, golf course, petrol station, post office, Pharmacy and harbour. 

The nearest beach is 5 miles away at Big Sand, with a selection of others at Red Point, Firemore, Melon Udrigle and Gruinard Bay.

There are many walks in the area including Flowerdale & Laid woods, Fairy Locks with its memorial to a crashed WW2 Bomber and a short drive away the famous Torridon Mountains.

Other local attractions include Rabha Rudh Light House, Benn Eighe Nature Reserve, The Russian Artic Convoy Museum,  The National Trusts Inverewe Gardens, and various boat trips from the harbour including the famous glass bottom boat  Fishing Trip & Boat hire.There is also a Pony Trekking Centre nearby, offering beach treks.

Other activities include Sea Kayaking, paddleboarding, falconry or just taking in the views at Gairlochs Sitooterie.

The local area is a haven for both birds & wildlife, which include White-Tailed Eagle, Dolphins, Otters and Red Deer

Victoria Falls

A short walk from the car park gets you to a beautiful waterfall with astounding views of the whole of Loch Maree.

They’re named after Queen Victoria, who visited in 1877.
